Our Brain Likes What’s Different

In a previous article, we chatted about our brain, memory and association. To expand on that, let’s chat some more.

Our brain slows down and does not work as efficiently as it could when we use the same patterns over and over. True, some patterns work well and are worth repeating. It is also true that the brain learns by what’s different. The power of the cortex to form new associations is vastly underutilized.

I mentioned that it is valuable to change our patterns often, when possible. For example, drive to work via a different route, listen to music while smelling a pleasant fragrance, use your non-dominant hand to perform every day activities.

The brain learns by difference and this difference provides novelty and brain exercise which stimulates the cortex. And remember that the Mind Spa also forces cortical stimulation.

There are many simple brain exercises we will be referring to in upcoming articles.

After all, NLP is about how our brain works and OTCC is about how our mind works as well. The brain likes sameness, but learns by difference.
